We are looking for an Agricultural Valuation & Machine Learning Model SME to join our financial services client based in Sandton for a 12-month contract role.

The Agricultural Valuation & Machine Learning Model SME will provide specialist advisory, research, and knowledge management services to support the development, validation, and interpretation of machine learning-driven agricultural valuation models. This role bridges agricultural valuation expertise, business requirements, data science, and credit decisioning to ensure valuation approaches are practical, credible, and aligned with business objectives.

POSITION INFO:
What you will be doing: Provide specialist guidance on agricultural valuation methodologies, asset pricing principles, and collateral valuation practices. Advise on the development, refinement, and continuous improvement of machine learning-based valuation models. Identify and validate key valuation drivers, assumptions, and business rules that influence model performance. Review, interpret, and assess model outputs, providing actionable recommendations to improve accuracy and business value. Conduct research on agricultural valuation methodologies, market trends, benchmark data, and industry best practices. Facilitate stakeholder workshops, knowledge-sharing sessions, and training to promote understanding of valuation models and methodologies. Translate complex analytical and machine learning concepts into clear business language for technical and non-technical stakeholders. Collaborate with Product, Credit Risk, Agriculture Banking, Data Science, Technology, and Project teams to support solution delivery. Produce executive presentations, research papers, advisory reports, and strategic recommendations. Support governance activities, model reviews, validation exercises, and decision-making forums. Contribute to proof of concept (POC) initiatives and implementation planning for agricultural valuation solutions. Develop and maintain valuation frameworks, documentation, and knowledge management artefacts. What we are looking for: Relevant tertiary qualification in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or a related field. Demonstrated experience in agricultural valuation, agribusiness economics, agricultural finance, or a related discipline. Strong understanding of valuation methodologies, collateral valuation principles, and agricultural asset pricing. Experience supporting analytical, statistical, or machine learning models. Strong research, analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills. Ability to interpret complex analytical outputs and translate them into meaningful business insights. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage technical, business, and executive audiences. Experience within banking, agricultural finance, credit risk, lending, or financial services environments will be advantageous. Ability to produce high-quality reports, executive presentations, and recommendation papers. Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams and governance forums.
