SUMMARY:
Eastern Free State Area – South Africa: An excellent opportunity currently exists in the veterinary environment. This Beef Study Group has been well established over the past 35 years and consists of an ever-growing number of 70 members with 50,000 breeding cows.
POSITION INFO:
There is a growing demand for the breed, as a composite breed based on a commercial farming basis. Geographically, the area extends over several provinces with a centre of gravity over the highveld of the Eastern Free State and Mpumalanga.
The successful candidate will be expected to lead, further expand, and strategically position the Beef Cattle Study Group. An important aspect of the work is to exploit the inherent synergy between members and to bring about continuous progress through proven breeding and veterinary practices.
At the same time, the candidate will be expected to be at the forefront of knowledge and technology to assist members at farm level
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Strong leadership qualities, management skills and human relations
• Relevant experience
• Veterinary and / or appropriate postgraduate veterinary, agricultural or management qualification
• Passionate and a feel for cattle and cattle farming
• Willingness to relocate to Eastern Free State
Tasks and responsibilities
• Leadership and management of the study group
• Progress through veterinary practices and synergy
• Farm level assistance in terms of breeding goals, herd class and farming practices
• Selection and maintenance of standards
• Coordination of auctions and information days
• Marketing and expansion of The Beef Study Group
