POSITION INFO:
Company looking for an exprienced Civil Engineer within the Industrial\/Mining sector for a 12 month contract based in Groote Eylandt (Australia). The prime purpose of this position is to provide high-level guidance and ensure accountability of Civil Contractors to ensure safe, efficient Major Project outcomes are delivered on schedule, within budget and meet or exceed the quality standards required. Support and live out the project safety culture as a key member of the project team ensuring that risk management and safe systems of work are delivered for all aspects of the project scope. Duties: Support and maintain a safe and healthy workplace that adheres to Company policies and other applicable laws, regulations and standards for the workplace; lead by example. Act in a step-up role to the Construction Manager and\/or represent the Major Projects team as a delegate when required. During feasibility reviews, provide safety in design advice, constructability reviews and engineering advice on SMP packages. Provide engineering and procurement advice to assist in development of a detailed construction schedule. Provide advice and assist with developing estimates for pre-commitment of funding if required. Provide advice, including detailed estimates for project budget forecast and tracking. With collaboration, develop detailed tender documentation and Scope of Works (SOW) ensuring client expectations, as well as regulatory and site requirements are met. This includes specific detail regarding safety in design and constructability considerations. With team, conduct tender evaluation and award of contracts. Liaise with external vendors and contractors during the procurement processes as required. Accountable for ensuring that technical specifications and other QA\/QC requirements are being met by vendors. Respond to Technical Queries (TQ) and Requests for Information (RFI) from vendors\/contractors in a timely manner. This may include liaison with external engineering consultants as required. Develop and maintain detailed and transparent registers for procurement, logistics, TQs and RFIs. Provide on-site engineering support to the Major Projects team or contractors as required within discipline and experience; liaise with external engineering consultants as required. Respond to Major Projects team or contractor TQs and RFIs in a timely manner - within 24hrs for a safety critical system; within 48 hrs for general enquiries. Issue Site Instructions (SI) and Non-Compliance Reports (NCR) to execution contractors as required; follow up in a timely manner. Develop and maintain detailed and transparent SI and NCR registers. Ensure governance with QA\/QC documentation, assist with development of documentation as required. Provide high level guidance to Major Projects Civil Contractors as follows: Ensure understanding and compliance with Company Operational plan where required. Provide advice on Contractor TQs and RFIs as required. Provide advice on Contractor payment claims and assist in budget estimates as required. Ensure Contractor compliance to issued Site Instructions or Non-Compliance Reports. Act as a liaison between the Contractor and Company Stakeholders as required. Act as a liaison between the different contracting parties working on Major Project sites as required. Review Supervisors signing off hold points and ITPs, ensuring compliance to QA\/QC. Conduct site audits with supervisors and Contractors for safety and quality compliance. Escalate issues to the Project\/Construction Manager to ensure timely response. Oversee, review and approve integrated construction work packs. Provide advice on integrated work tasks to assist with development of the construction schedule. With the team, carry out constructability reviews and provide feedback. Review and provide feedback on development of Major Project processes and procedures. Oversee and review relevant paperwork and marked up as-built Requirements: Relevant Civil Engineering qualifications. Strong problem-solving skills, demonstrating objective and critical thinking with well-developed strategic planning skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to communicate at all levels in the organisation with the ability to influence and negotiate with diplomacy. Have a positive, flexible and dynamic approach. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite Proficiency in English. Demonstrated experience in a heavy industrial\/mining environment, minimum 10 years. Demonstrated experience in contractor management. Demonstrated experience in document writing and work package compilation Demonstrated understanding of Project schedules and budget. Desirable Remote work experience in arduous conditions and climates
