Commercial Director / Purchasing Director - FMCG (JB1674)

Johannesburg

R1 500 000 – R2 000 000 CTC per Annum

Duration: Permanent

Overview

FMCG (Foods) expert required to join this new business venture and take the helm in terms of starting the business up with the assistance of the Executive Management team.

Advanced understanding of tech and eCommerce is required.

Minimum Requirements:

8 or more years’ experience within a Commercial Director, Director/Category Manager, Purchasing Director specific to the FMCG industry with a solid understanding of the supply chain

Relevant degree is preferred

Excellent knowledge of the FMCG market in South Africa - the main trade formats, suppliers and distributors

Knowledge of interaction patterns between suppliers and retailers

Knowledge of key marketing factors to increase sales

Knowledge of the notable laws and regulations

Experience in the field of building a product line, analysis, segmentation and further development thereof

Experience in the acquisition of and negotiations with suppliers

Experience in the field of developing a pricing model

Experience in the field of creating promotional offers

Must be prepared to “get your hands dirty” by performing most tasks on your own for the initial startup phase

Duties and Responsibilities:

Development and improvement of the product line

Sourcing, negotiating with and onboarding suppliers specific to foods

Creation of the supply chain

Development of the pricing model

Pricing adjustments after the product launch

Purchase of supplies if necessary

Research and development of promotional campaigns

Creation of the commercial reporting system

Give input in terms of eCommerce platform
