Commercial Manager / Specialist – Upstream Oil & Gas - Alaska

SUMMARY:
This role will be responsible for commercial risk management, cost forecasting, contract negotiations, and financial oversight, ensuring project viability and cost efficiency while maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulations.

POSITION INFO:
Presently reside in Alaska or have worked in Alaska before – upstream O&G.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or related field required.
RICS, AACE, or CPCM certification preferred.

Experience:

• 10+ years of experience in commercial management, cost control, and contracts administration in the Oil & Gas sector.
• Strong background in EPC project contracts, procurement strategies, and cost estimation.
• Experience in managing large capital projects, both onshore and offshore.
• Familiarity with regulatory and tax compliance requirements for major Oil & Gas markets.

• Proficiency in SAP, Oracle, or similar cost control and financial systems.
• Strong knowledge of contract law, procurement strategies, and risk assessment tools.
• Ability to analyze financial models, cost trends, and project KPIs.

1. Commercial & Contract Management:

• Develop and manage project contracting strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Negotiate and administer EPC, lump sum, cost-reimbursable, and unit rate contracts.
• Ensure contract compliance, claims management, and dispute resolution.
• Work closely with legal teams to mitigate commercial risks and liabilities.

1. Cost Control & Forecasting:

• Implement cost control procedures, tracking budgets, and forecasting expenditures.
• Develop detailed cost estimates and financial reports for project leadership.
• Identify potential cost overruns and recommend corrective actions.
• Support procurement and supply chain teams in vendor pricing negotiations.

1. Risk Management & Compliance:

• Assess commercial risks associated with contract terms, market conditions, and project execution.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, financial policies, and company standards.
• Provide strategic commercial advice to senior leadership on risk mitigation.

1. Stakeholder & Client Communication:

• Present commercial reports, cost forecasts, and contract strategies to stakeholders.
• Lead contract negotiations and liaise with vendors, subcontractors, and legal teams.
• Ensure seamless collaboration between commercial, legal, finance, and project execution teams.
