Our client, a reputable organisation within the mining sector, is seeking an experienced Construction Manager (Electrical) to oversee and manage all underground electrical construction activities related to mining operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all electrical projects are completed safely, efficiently, within budget, and according to the required quality and compliance standards. This role will be based on-site in Limpopo.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements:

• Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical qualification.
• GCC Mines & Works will be advantageous.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in electrical construction management within the mining industry, preferably underground operations.
• Strong understanding of underground electrical systems, infrastructure installation, and mining construction practices.
• Experience working with project management software such as MS Project or Primavera.
• Sound knowledge of mine health and safety regulations and electrical compliance standards.
• Strong leadership, planning, communication, and organisational skills.

• Develop and implement detailed electrical construction schedules and execution plans.
• Coordinate activities with engineering, procurement, and operational departments.
• Ensure project milestones align with operational and production requirements.

• Oversee all underground electrical construction and installation activities.
• Ensure all work is completed according to technical specifications, safety standards, and project requirements.
• Supervise contractors, subcontractors, and site personnel effectively.

• Monitor project expenditure and maintain cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review and approve project-related costs and contractor claims.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce unnecessary expenditure.

• Ensure the effective allocation of labour, tools, equipment, and electrical materials.
• Monitor the availability and delivery of required equipment and supplies.
• Coordinate logistics to avoid project delays.

• Enforce strict adherence to mine safety procedures and electrical regulations.
• Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and toolbox talks.
• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture on-site.

• Ensure all electrical installations comply with engineering designs, standards, and statutory regulations.
• Oversee testing, commissioning, and inspection processes.
• Address defects, deviations, and non-conformances promptly.

• Liaise with project managers, engineers, consultants, and clients regarding project progress.
• Prepare and submit regular project reports and updates.
• Resolve operational and technical issues efficiently.

• Ensure all construction activities comply with mining legislation and electrical regulations.
• Maintain required permits, documentation, and compliance records.
• Support audit and inspection processes where required.
