Control Systems Engineer

SUMMARY:

JOB TITLE CONTROL SYSTEMS ENGINEER - {Somerset West, Western Cape)

POSITION INFO:

JOB PURPOSE: This position is responsible for the design, development and testing of any given control system according to client specific requirements.

JOB OBJECTIVES:
- To design a cost-effective solution for projects in order to meet the customer needs.
- Prepare a detailed design of the approved solution for the client and ensure the effective development thereof.
- To design system architecture for software implementations.
- To design industrial communication networks for software implementations (ethernet, fibre, Profinet, etc.)
- To develop PLC programs for a client for implementation of their requirements.
- To develop SCADA and/or HMI applications according to client specifications.
- To develop and integrate database and reporting solutions according to client specifications.
- To develop simulation applications for testing and training purposes.
- Test the solution to ensure that the designed solution is totally functional.
- To implement the complete solution at the client and ensure the optimal functioning thereof.
- To provide training and assistance to the client, to ensure that the client can use the system within the design constraints.
- To provide post project system support for the client as and when required.
- Standby for Service Level Agreement.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:
- Degree, Technical Diploma or NQF Equivalent in Electrical, Electronic or Mechatronic Engineering.
- At least 5-year programming and development experience.
- Experience of control system design.
- International control system specifications and standards.
- Proficient in Siemens, Rockwell, Beckhoff & Omron PLC programming.
- Proficient in Aviva/Wonderware, Siemens and Rockwell SCADA & HMI development.
- Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Reporting Services development and integration.
- Aviva/Wonderware and Schneider certification will be advantageous.
- A good knowledge of MES systems will be advantageous.
- A good knowledge of C, Python, Java and SQL programming will be advantageous.
- Exposure to Food & Beverage and Flour & Feed Milling industries will be advantageous.
- Knowledge of and exposure to the MHS and OHS Act.
