Job summary:

To collect cost information and maintain departmental databases, as well as to process, maintain, and analyze the data used for costing determinations and other reports

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Costing Administration and Systems

Perform complex costing in Excel
Generate costings from technical drawings
Maintain material costs and monitor price fluctuations
Identify and resolve faults and problems
Translate bill of material into accurate costing
Meticulous checking of work and analyzing costing
Automate Excel workbooks to enable easy updating of pricelists and costing tools
Maintain and update current costing tools
Improve costing methods for more efficient and accurate outputs

Qualifications and Experience

Matric certificate (preferably with Mathematics)
At least 5 years’ previous experience in a similar role
Advanced Excel proficiency (superuser level) with Query writing
Working knowledge of other MS Office applications

Competencies

Understand and use cross multiplication
Technical/mechanical knowledge advantageous
Able to interpret and understand technical drawings for costing purposes
Able to understand and translate bill of material for costing purposes
Ability to create complex Excel costing sheets
Ability to automate Excel workbooks
Above-average attention to detail
Able to work well and accurately under pressure
Strong planning and organizational skills
Result-orientated
Reliable and trustworthy
Work well with others
Capable of working independently without supervision
