JOB SUMMARY:
A well-established International Chemical and Equipment Company requires the above to provide technical support, commissioning, performance testing and evaluation of processes and equipment on the customer site.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Minimum requirements for the role:

A BSc or BEng degree in Chemical Engineering or relevant degree is essential with the focus on Process Engineering.
Previous experience having worked as a Process Engineer or Design Engineer or in a similar role within the water treatment industry is essential.
Must have working knowledge of wastewater, effluent, RO water, demin and water softeners and potable water equipment and chemicals.
Must have strong communication skills as well as strong computer skills.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Process design development through careful selection of process treatment technologies based on design guidelines and good engineering practices.
Representing the Company during meetings with potential customers, vendors and subcontractors.
Preparing optimisation plans to improve processes on site.
Participating in HAZOP studies, value engineering exercises and design reviews.
Preparing detail engineering design packages consisting of process flow diagrams, design calculations and mass and energy balances, piping and instrumentation diagrams, equipment schedules, process datasheets, etc
Compiling all process related design study documentation.
Managing technical specifications of equipment for request for quotations and purchase orders.
Technical evaluation of vendor proposals where required.
Arranging and coordinating any supplementary requirements from external consultants, vendors or subcontractors.
Compiling performance test procedure, commissioning plans and operating manuals for site processes.
Commissioning, including documentation preparation, pre-commissioning, cold- and hot commissioning activities and trouble shooting.
Conducting performance testing and reporting.
Training Operators on processes and applications when required.
Keeping up to date with latest technologies, design tools and guidelines and developments inside the Company, in the water treatment field and from local / international suppliers.
Mentoring Junior Engineers via guidance and knowledge transfer in a teamwork environment.
Directing investigations into problem areas arising with work in the office and at site and to endorse solutions.
Writing of technical reports.
