Electrical Control and Instrumentation Engineer

SUMMARY:
A leading engineering organisation specialising in the design and manufacture of equipment and process plants for the mining and mineral processing sector is seeking an experienced Electrical, Control and Instrumentation (E&CI) Engineer to join its growing team.
This role offers the opportunity to work across the full project lifecycle, from concept design and engineering through to factory acceptance testing (FAT), commissioning, start-up, and ongoing technical support. We are looking for a practical, hands-on engineer who enjoys both design work and site-based problem-solving.

Key responsibilities

• Design electrical and control systems for industrial equipment and process plants.
• Develop PLC software and HMI/SCADA applications.
• Design, review, and implement Motor Control Centres (MCCs), control panels, and electrical distribution systems.
• Prepare electrical drawings, cable schedules, I/O lists, and technical documentation.
• Select and specify instrumentation and electrical equipment.
• Participate in design reviews and ensure compliance with applicable standards.
• Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and support Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
• Perform on-site commissioning, troubleshooting, and equipment start-up activities.
• Diagnose and resolve faults related to PLCs, instrumentation, electrical systems, and industrial networks.
• Work closely with project managers, design engineers, workshop teams, suppliers, and clients.
• Provide technical support throughout the execution of projects.
• Assist with the development and implementation of engineering standards and best practices.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum requirements BEng degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline. Three to eight years of experience in industrial automation or electrical engineering. Practical PLC programming experience, preferably using Siemens or Allen-Bradley platforms. Experience designing MCCs, industrial control systems, and electrical panels. Strong understanding of industrial instrumentation and field devices. Experience working with industrial communication protocols, including Profinet, Profibus, Ethernet\/IP, and Modbus. Ability to interpret and produce electrical drawings and schematics. Valid driver's licence. Willingness to travel locally and internationally when required. Advantageous experience Siemens TIA Portal, Studio 5000, or Codesys. WinCC, Ignition, or similar SCADA platforms. Variable speed drives (VSDs). Industrial networking technologies. Mining and mineral processing environments. EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or related design software. FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities.
