Engineering Executive - Transport Experience (Mechanical Eng).

SUMMARY:
Manage Technical Division of a large Transport Company based in South Africa and Africa

POSITION INFO:

EXCO level and report into the CEO

Based in Gauteng

R1,6m per annum neg., incentive on offer (based on performance and company performance), share incentives after 3 years

South African citizens only

Experience in a logistics / transport environment would be advantageous.

Must be able to deal with procurement of buses, repair works, maintenance management of costs, consumptions etc

Team of 400 technicians under this position and their managers

2500 buses in fleet

Most buses imported from Brazil / China – must know parts, costs, tenders, where to go, agreements, guarantees, delivery, shipping, costing, exchange rates, timing, seasonality etc.

A Mechanical Engineering with a Business Management qualification will be advantageous

Minimum 15 years operational experience in a senior technical management environment

Computer literate

Proven capacity to compile, cost and present proposals

Knowledge of the relevant legislation

Knowledge of the transport industry including vehicles and equipment

Ability to express ideas effectively

Ability to monitor the results of projects

Sound interpersonal relationships

Strategic thinker

Management of the human resource within the department

Assisting with vehicle specification and procurement

Management of the technical function at the depots

Budget management and expense control

Control over purchasing and rebuilding of units

Ensure adherence to quality management systems

Represent the company on several technical bodies
