JOB SUMMARY:
Executive Commercial Services

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Purpose of the Job;

To effectively position the Client in the marketplace through marketing, branding and developing business cases to exploit opportunities and gaps in the market, and stakeholder relationship strategies.

Key Performance Area:

Develop Business Development Strategy

  • Apply marketing expertise and business experience to develop Marketing/Branding strategies for the Client, and present for Board approval
  • Scan the environment to discern market gaps and business opportunities; Develop supporting internal and external Communications strategies
  • Craft appropriate Stakeholder Relations strategies in respect of the public sector (parliament and government e.g., Department of Transport and National Treasury).
  • Build the image and profile of the Client to be recognised as a supplier of choice in Air Traffic Management and allied services; Develop compelling business cases for implementation of specific initiatives to meet Commercial Services strategies and objectives
  • Monitor the implementation and execution of business plans and ensure alignment of policies, branding and communication strategies throughout and within the market place; Serve on appropriate internal and external committee structures to advance the Client’s commercial interests and reach.

Transmit Compelling Internal and External Messages

  • Develop and forge high level communications networks to enable achievement of communications strategies
  • Create internal performance management drivers to ensure relevant functions will allocate time and resources to meet the business development agenda through performance and/or project management approaches and structures
  • Identify synergies between the Client departments/functions to produce products and services which will meet gaps identified in the market; Glean various sources of business/marketing intelligence, information and data, and interpret to make sense in the contexts of the Client and its commercial interests.

Lead Commercial Services Function

  • Lead, direct and manage the Commercial Services Function; Lead, direct and manage the marketing and brand awareness functions on behalf of the Client including sales, sponsorships, corporate social investment (CSI)
  • Formulate revenue targets and ensure incorporation thereof in performance parameters of departments/functions having a business development agenda (Training Academy; Engineering Services; Air Traffic Management); Strategically manage Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) with service providers (e.g. Public Relations, Branding, Communication companies)

Manage Human Resources

  • Lead and manage staff in the Commercial Services function in the achievement of business objectives and targets; Analyse the business plan to determine and translate the applicable staff deliverables and targets
  • Determine the human resource requirements, permanent and contractors, in accordance with the expected deliverables; Secure the human resource requirements to ensure that deliverables will be met in accordance with the expected targets
  • Conduct Performance Planning Sessions; Track and monitor performance in accordance with policies and procedures and performance planning documentation; Continuously provide feedback and coaching to ensure that the staff member/s perform at optimum productivity level
  • Conduct performance reviews in accordance with policies and procedures and take corrective actions where necessary; Appraise performance at the end of the performance period in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Provide feedback to the relevant role players; Manage Human Resources in accordance with policies, procedures and legal requirements
  • Complete Human Resource Management actions within the allocated time frames; Ensure identification of critical skills essential for sustainability of service delivery and the development of succession plans

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters level qualification preferably in Marketing or Business Management.

Minimum Experience:

  • 10 years experience in (global) marketing environment, Management of turn-key projects to turn company around by exploiting marketing and business opportunities
  • The incumbent is capable of moderating a helicopter view with a sense of reality so that business development initiatives proposed will stand a good chance of being successfully implemented.
  • The incumbent is capable of exercising ethical and defensible deal-making skills which will advance the Client’s business interests.
