One of our clients in insurance is on the market for a Finance Manager (Underwriting) to join their team. The ideal candidate is a reliable, detail-oriented individual who adapts easily and is able to move with any changes within a business. The team is diverse and people-centric, a confident and mature personality would be required.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Duties:

Monthly management reporting
Monthly insurer underwriting reporting
Review and management of underwriter income statement, balance sheet, cash flows, and reconciliation
Assist with the preparation and maintenance of budgets and forecasts
Responsible for all internal and external audits
Staff management, motivation, and training
Maintain all internal financial controls
Ensure overall success, accuracy, and maintenance of the Finance Underwriting department
Maintain with underwriters and relevant stakeholders
Improve financial data reports by analyzing results; monitoring variances; identifying trends; and recommending actions to management, team, and stakeholders
Maximize operational efficiency with a focus on key performance drivers and improve operating practices
Any other duties as assigned by the company from time to time

Job Experience & Skills Required:
Qualifications:

Matric
BCom/BCom Honours
CIMA Qualified

Experience:

3 Years of Experience in Finance
Must have insurance experience
Underwriting experience will be highly beneficial
Strong Excel skills

Skills & Competencies:

Excellent communication skills
Detail orientated with excellent analytical skills
Able to work with and make sense of large amounts of data in a manual environment
Adaptable to an ever-changing environment
A problem solver
Smart worker
Self-motivated and able to work under pressure
Able to manage a team as well as work independently
