The purpose of the Finance Manager (Underwriting) role is to provide oversight and direction to the Underwriter Reporting department. The role requires an individual that is adaptable to changes in a growing organisation, detailed orientated with excellent communication skills and with good management skills. Duties:

Monthly management reporting
Monthly insurer underwriting reporting
Review and management of underwriter income statement, balance sheet, cash flows and reconciliation
Assist with preparation and maintenance of budgets and forecasts
Responsible for all internal and external audits
Staff management, motivation, and training
Maintain all internal financial controls
Ensure overall success, accuracy, and maintenance of the Finance Underwriting department
Maintain with underwriters and relevant stakeholders
Improve financial data reports by analysing results; monitoring variances; identifying trends; and recommending actions to management, team and stakeholders
Maximize operational efficiency with a focus on key performance drivers and improve operating practices
Any other duties as assigned by the company from time to time

Job Experience & Skills Required:
Qualifications:

Matric (Grade 12)
BCom Accounting

Experience:

Minimum 5 - 8 years’ experience in finance
Management experience will be beneficial
Underwriting experience is Non-negotiable

Skills & Competencies:

Excellent communication skills
Detail orientated with excellent analytical skills
Able to work with and make sense of large amounts of data in a manual environment
Adaptable to an ever-changing environment
A problem solver
Smart worker
Self-motivated and able to work under pressure
Able to manage a team as well as work independently
