Financial Controller

SUMMARY:
Our client in the Real Estate Investment and Development Industry is currently in the market for a Financial Controller to complete a 12-month fixed term contract. Previous experience in the property and construction industry will be advantageous. Please see the performance area criteria below for a more detailed description of the required responsibilities.

POSITION INFO:

The Financial controller is responsible for the financial management of a portfolio of properties and companies within the organisation. This involves the full financial function for these companies. A critical success factor of the role will be the analytical ability to identify problem areas and ensure quick and effective problem solving for others in area of expertise. In addition to this, the incumbent will be expected to identify risks and implement actions to mitigate these.

Minimum Requirements:

• NQF 7/8 / BCom degree.
• BCom / BCom Honours degree or equivalent will be an added advantage.
• 3-4 years’ experience in a similar role if not NQF 8.
• 1-2 years’ experience in a similar role - if not CA(SA).
• 3 years property specific experience.
• BROLL experience (highly advantageous).

Performance Areas (Responsibilities):

• Operational Financial Processing - Administers financial processes and tasks for a portfolio of properties and companies.
• General Ledger - Reconciles General Ledgers and allocates costs accordingly.
• Budget and Forecasting - Provides input into the budget and monitors expenditure.
• Cash Flow Management and Payments - Manages the daily cash position and ensures timeous availability of funds. Ensures the timeous payments to suppliers based on valid TAX invoices.
• Reporting - Prepares financial reporting including Monthly, Bi-Annually & Annually.
• External Auditing - Assists auditors during the external audit process.
• BEE - Reports on BEE spend for the BEE scoring purposes.
• Taxation - Manages the taxation function for portfolio of companies. This involves Statutory tax, provisional tax as well as VAT.
• Risk Management - Identifies and manages business risk.
• Staff Management - Manages people performance.
