POSITION INFO:

The Southern African subsidiary of a global organisation is looking for a Financial Controller for our operations in Johannesburg South Africa.

The job requires a qualified, experienced individual who is able to work under pressure and tight deadlines.

The successful candidate will need to accept a challenge and take a hands-on approach acting as the right hand to the CFO in the finance department.

The finance department is a true centre of excellence for process efficiency, data accuracy, whilst meeting reporting deadlines and exceeding interdepartmental, and group support expectations.

Working close to the CFO, the Assistant Financial Controller role represents one of the most critical responsibilities within the finance team. The tasks of this role will thus be diverse and comprehensive. Furthermore, as the financial controller this role will also be the SAP specialist function to control, analyse and manage the financial resources of the entity and to accurately report on all transactions as processed in SAP.

This role will also take ownership of the annual financial statement compilation and corporate taxes and other statutory submissions.  This role will also assist in providing technical financial accounting and management accounting guidance to the other functions within the finance department.

Qualifications/Experience:

• Finance / Business degree with honours (CTA beneficial)
• Completed signed off articles in any of SAIPA / SAICA / ACCA / CIMA
• Minimum 3 years’ post article experience in the finance department of a commercial business
• At least 2 years SAP experience within the past 5 years.
• High proficiency in Excel formulas, pivot tables etc essential
• Financial statement drafting experience essential (Caseware)
• Corporate income tax experience essential

• Demonstrated ability to function within a finance team and high proficiency working with top level management.
• Demonstrated ability to handle stress within a high pace environment
• Very high level of emotional maturity is essential
• Performance and results driven attitude
• Self-starting & self-driven personality to operate efficient without supervision
• A high level of proficiency in written / spoken English
• Demonstrated ability in delivering change and managing multiple projects, without neglecting monthly deadlines.
• Proven experience to understand and manage the financial and administrative functions in a business dealing with specialised systems and products
• Analytical and technically savvy with financial concepts and accounting data
• High level of competence using computers and business software

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

• Responsibility for key monthly reporting into the group consolidation,
• SAP controlling, SAP reports analysis, contribution margin and cost analysis in line with IFRS and other statutory and group specific reporting formats and regulations
• measure performance against budget,
• Adhering to the group’s strict reporting deadlines
• Preparation of budgets and forecasts of revised financial position
• Responsibility for audited financial statements and managing external audit processes.
• Review / submission of statutory returns for government, SARS, etc.
• Manage relationships with banks and other finance institutions
• Preparation and reporting of cash flow projections highlighting funding requirements.
• Implementation and review / maintenance  of existing internal controls
• Identify any risks, irregularities, lack of compliance that may become evident from internal/external audits and operational compliance
• Ensuring financial policies are implemented and controlled in line with group policies
• Ensure robust financial controls in place around all key Accounting Operations areas of responsibility
• Anything that the CFO or finance team require assistance with
