JOB SUMMARY:
Our client within the electrical infrastructure construction industry, is looking for a Financial Manager, who will be based at their Head Office in Roodepoort Johannesburg.

You will be reporting to the Executive Management team.
As the  Financial Manager you will be responsible for managing financial, human resource, procurement and administration functions including:

  • Preparing of budgets;
  • Conducting financial analysis and preparing financial reports;
  • Developing and implementing an effective system of accounting & managing the payroll system.


JOB DESCRIPTION:

Minimum Education:
  • Tertiary qualification in a financial discipline with at least a B Com Accounting Honours degree or equivalent;
  • a Masters qualification in Business Administration (MBA) would be an added advantage
Minimum Work Experience:
  • Previous experience of serving in a similar environment (electrical infrastructure construction industry) of at least 5 years essential
  • Minimum of two years in a managerial role

Responsibilities:
  • Providing financial advice and guidance to the Board and Senior Management;
  • Participate in strategic, financial and human resources planning;
  • Research, prepare and submit the annual budget; Prepare detailed reports on financial, human resources and administrative matters;
  • Attend meetings and make presentations to the Board and senior management;
  • Forecast estimates for the predicted use of financial resources against the budgeted financial resources during a given period;
  • Allocate funds to specific accounts;
  • Monitor the actual use of financial resources against the approved budget and identify variances;
  • Adjust and report on the approved budget in response to variances between planned and actual expenditures;
  • Managing accounting and financial systems and maintain full and accurate accounting records;
  • Conducting financial analysis and prepare detailed financial reports and statements;
  • Providing financial and accounting advice, direction and leadership;
  • Ensuring compliance with financial legislation, policies and procedures;
  • Developing and implementing purchasing practices and monitor the purchasing system;
  • Responding to auditors’ comments concerning finances and operations and oversee required action to address deficiencies; Approving the Chart of Accounting and maintain commitment controls;
  • Implementing and monitor payment authority practices; Establishing and maintain cash controls; Monitoring department spending and recommend corrective actions as necessary; Managing investments and reserves; Reconcile general ledger accounts;
  • Define the Company’s financial requirements and commitments and compare against set goals and objectives; Assessing available financial resources in order to achieve financial goals;
  • Establishing and maintaining internal controls to ensure compliance with financial and human resources legislation, policies and procedures;
  • Evaluating the performance of and provide training and development opportunities for Finance and Administration staff;
  • Managing the maintenance and upgrade of financial, payroll and human resources;
  • Provide leadership by delegating tasks, responding to staff inquiries and providing overall direction to employees;
  • Comply with the legal and statutory framework of policies, business processes, procedures and standards pertaining to recording, classifying, monitoring, and reporting on use and disposition of financial resources;
  • Establish, maintain, and apply specific framework of policies, business processes, procedures and standards pertaining to recording, classifying, monitoring, and reporting on the use and disposition of financial resources;
