Fleet Manager Pietermaritzburg

FLEET MANAGER / PIETERMARITZBURG – Our client in the Courier Industry has a 5-year contract position available from the 1st September, for a Fleet Manager to be based in Pietermaritzburg.

MIN REQUIREMENTS:

10 years’ experience in Fleet management,

3 years at Management Level Experience in managing at least 50 VEHICLES

Must be experienced in telematics / Vehicle tracking devices

Must be familiar with fleet-specific programs like route navigation software and logistics and supply chain software.

Finance and accounting literacy Experience on how to establish a fleet budget

Ability to Manage and Supervise staff

Further Qualification/Certificate in fleet management (advantageous)

Microsoft Office; E-mail; instant messaging, spreadsheet, and word processing apps

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for planning, directing, managing, coordinating and supervising the programs for acquisition, assignment, utilization, maintenance, repair, replacement and disposal of fleet vehicles.

The Fleet manager will serve as the primary contact concerning the vehicle fleet and operations.

The ability to understand vehicle systems, mechanics, and technology sufficiently to authorize repairs and accurately evaluate the work of employees involved in maintenance and repairs.

Integrate daily trip sheets and ensure that they are correctly filled and proof of delivery completed.

Optimise orders for the most efficient routes daily. Publish those routes to the drivers for pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, electronic trip sheets, monitor traffic-based turn by turn directions, collection and delivery workflow ensuring proof of delivery.

Ability to work independently and take full control and ownership of the fleet.

Monitor the driver’s execution of the route through the integration of the software with a tracking system to generate exception reports on driver behaviour.

Stream the camera footage on vehicles. In an event of driver accident to assist in requesting first Aid to the driver, towing truck and completing accident forms for claims.

Have a host of standard reports with consolidated information to reduce delays, accidents, tyre damages.

Allow for customized reports and dashboards to be configured for our specific needs.

Be a skilled negotiator, an active listener, and an agile speaker and writer where vendors and all levels of employees are concerned.

They report to a few, collaborate with some, oversee others, and negotiate deals with supplier

Package: R20k monthly and 13th Cheque
