HSE Manager

SUMMARY:
In this role, you will serve as the principal HSE authority on site, setting the safety benchmark for high-value EPC contractors and multidisciplinary execution teams. You will bridge high-level statutory compliance with boots-on-the-ground risk management—driving a uncompromising zero-harm culture across heavy civil, mechanical, and commissioning phases.

POSITION INFO:
The Tech Stack Deep-Dive Regulatory Frameworks, Legislation & Standards Must-Haves: South African HSE legislation, OHS Act, Construction Regulations, environmental compliance requirements, and ISO 45001\/14001 governance. Nice-to-Haves: NEBOSH Diploma, SAMTRAC, or ISO Lead Auditor qualifications. High-Hazard Petroleum Operations & Risk Management Must-Haves: Fire & explosion hazard mitigation, hazardous area classification, hydrocarbon containment, emergency response management, and hot work controls. Nice-to-Haves: Complex lifting safety, tank erection safety, and high-risk mechanical\/electrical interface controls. Governance, Auditing & Contractor Management Must-Haves: EPC contractor safety oversight, lead auditing, accident\/incident root-cause investigation, risk reviews, and enforcing stop-work authority. Nice-to-Haves: Direct experience in an Owner's Team, PMC, or Client Representative capacity on mega-scale capital projects. Key Responsibilities (Keep it brief) Owner-Side HSE Leadership: Establish and enforce site-wide HSE strategy, holding EPC contractors fully accountable to project standards, local laws, and environmental permits. High-Hazard Risk Control & Auditing: Lead incident investigations, emergency drills, and formal compliance audits across civil works, mechanical erection, and pre-commissioning. Executive Reporting & Governance: Conduct high-level performance discussions with contractor management, drive continuous risk reduction, and report key HSE metrics to senior stakeholders.
