Head of Buying

POSITION INFO:

The Head of Buying will work closely with, and report to, the CEO. They will form part of ManCo and ExCo.

Key responsibilities:

• Defining the overarching merchandising strategy (across all categories and sales channels)
• Determining the ideal store catalogue that reflects the Merchandising strategy, as well as associated category and store plans
• Achieving sales growth and profitability targets
• Collaborating with the omni-channel team to develop and bring additional categories to market
• Managing the Merchandising team on a day-to-day basis
• Developing a close working relationship with the Planning and Supply Chain teams to ensure that the merchandising strategy is realized with the right balance between stock availability (quantity) and quality
• Collaborating with the Marketing and Operations teams to ensure that the Company''s value proposition is clearly communicated in-store and expressed through store layout plans and promotional activity
• Creating a culture of analysis and data-driven decision making to make informed merchandising decisions and ultimately achieve higher sales
• Building sustainable supplier relationships
• Achieving the best possible trade terms to ensure competitiveness in the market

Requirements:

• +10 years merchandising within FMCG, retail, or e-commerce businesses, with at least 5 years within a leadership capacity
• Hands-on, operationally focused, and highly analytical leader with excellent attention to detail and a data-driven action mindset
• Significant budgetary responsibility, with a demonstrated record of achieving consistent increases in comparable-store sales, margin and inventory turn while staying brand right and listening to one’s customer
• High energy, roll-up-the-sleeves, a results-oriented person with an entrepreneurial spirit who is nimble, agile and can operate at a fast-pace
