Head of Finance

SUMMARY:
Working closely with the CFO and Commercial Director to oversee finance functions including reporting, planning, budgeting, forecasting and monitoring. The role’s key focus is to ensure the integrity of the planning, budgeting and forecasting process, financial reporting and visibility of business financial performance.

POSITION INFO:

Main responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for the finance activity for the Commercial; with overall accountability for:
• The full financials (income, costs, capex and cash reporting).
• Financial projections (Gross margin, Delivered margin, Working Capital, costs and cash) from the bottom-up plan and where relevant that the financial projections are aligned with Annual EMIA Planning processes.
• The provision of meaningful Management Information on a regular basis.
• The consolidation and integrity of all Commercial business information reporting.
• End to end Working Capital across the Commercial Business.
• Analyse data and forecasts, reports, and recommendations so that senior management has accurate and timely information for making decisions.
• Analyse resources optimisation and profitability.
• Gauge the business unit’s overall financial health, primarily by using key financial ratios such as the debt to equity ratio, current ratio, and interest coverage ratio.
• Determine which of the company’s products or product lines generate the largest portion of its net profit.
• Examine and evaluate the cost-efficiency of each department of the Business Unit, in light of what percentage of the financial resources each department consumes.
• Create, update and maintain financial models and detailed forecasts of the company’s future operations.
• Compare historical results against budgets and forecasts and performing variance analysis to explain differences in performance and suggest improvements going forward.
• Manage use, implementation and development of online analytical reporting tools and design efficient reports and database.
• Consider opportunities for the company to expand or grow. Mapping out growth plans, including capital expenditures and investments. Generating three- to five-year financial forecasts.
• Provide accurate and timely financial information, reports and analysis.
• Work collaboratively with Group Finance, to ensure financial information fits business needs and maintains high quality/integrity.
• Perform periodic and year end closing, in coordination with the concerned departments/divisions, including periodic IFRS financial statements for external and internal reporting including the processes supporting these.
• Manage production of monthly management accounts pack and ad hoc reports to internal customers.
• Manage the preparation of financial information to Group finance for Board of Directors and audit committee.
• Review financial and cost/benefit analysis of current or anticipated programmes or initiatives.
• Work collaboratively with auditors to resolve findings.
• Executing policy and standards for costing including cost allocation and apportionment approach and methodology.
• Managing the day to day finance operations of the Business Unit.
• Enable the production of cost reports for business through data mapping and design, linking appropriate costs across all reporting dimensions.
• Prepare the budget and plan according to group frameworks.
• Oversee analysis at business unit level (Review and analyse, budget variances and forecasts to identify trends, risk areas and provide support for business decisions).
• Evaluate whether the company’s current assets and investments are the best use of the company’s excess working capital, by looking at return on investment (ROI) and comparisons with other ways the company might utilize its cash flow (e.g., other possible investments, increased stock dividends, etc.) Ensuring robustness of the year forecast process and annual budgeting process.
• Developing and monitoring a set of KPI’s to track the performance of SA.
• Support the performance management agenda by driving a robust and rigorous in year process for financial delivery.
• Supporting development and delivery of solutions to key business issues, ensuring issues are resolved at their lowest level.
• Drive interventions and understanding the key risks and opportunities for the business.

Requirements

• CA(SA) or CIMA
• 7 to 10 years in a senior role
• Preference will be given to EE candiates
• FMCG, Manu, retail would be considered
