POSITION INFO:

Summary of job purpose: 

Providing strategic and financial guidance to ensure that the companys financial commitments are met. Developing all necessary policies and procedures to ensure the sound financial management and control of the company business.

 

Educational & experience requirements:

  • Long-term experience in the financial controlling of a production company
  • 3-7 years relevant experience with proven experience in manufacturing
  • Knowing the enterprise controlling instruments and methods such as Cost Centre Accounting, Profit Centre Accounting, Product Costing, Production Controlling and variance analysis
  • Knowing the other financial management methods such as business cases and the basics of business valuation
  • Working capital management experience
  • Educated and experienced in the financial accounting standards and disciplines
  • SAIPA / CIMA / BCom Accounting / Bcom Hons Qualification (Does not need to be a CA(SA) (we are looking for an all-round accountant that can help us shape the future of the company).
  • Experienced in dealing with SARS and all related matters such as VAT, PAYE, UIF etc
  • IFRS experience, especially IFRS 15
  • Functional knowledge of working in a multi-national organisation
  • Experience in managing customer projects and internal projects
  • SAP R/3 experience essential

Main job responsibilities:

  • Strategic Management – To contribute to the strategic management of the Company, by developing and maintaining strategies that encompass the Finance Department.
  • To participate within the Senior Management Team in forward planning and the effective daily organisation of the Company activities, including business planning, policy setting, financial forecasting and strategic decision making.
  • Financial Management – Effective management and control of all capital, revenue and cost budgets of all business functions  
  • Effective management and control of the Management and Administration, Finance, Presented and Produced resources and budgets.
  • Monitor and control work in progress and cost-effectiveness/margins of orders quoted on provided by the sales department
  • To have an overview of the activities and budgets for each department.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of departmental financial information.

 

  • Lead on the financial aspects of any strategic projects aimed at achieving growth of the organisation.
  • Staff Management – To lead and manage the Finance team by establishing excellent ongoing working relationships with team via recruitment, training and communication. • To liaise with the Human Resources Manager to ensure staffing levels are maintained, recruiting effective staff as necessary, in line with relevant policies and procedures.
  • To effectively manage the performance of the team by carrying out progress reviews and ensuring objectives and key outputs are cascaded throughout the department. • To liaise with the Human Resources Manager and line managers to establish an on-going training programme in line with company policies, to develop all staff to appropriate standards.
  • Communicate effectively with team on a regular basis ensuring information is clear, accurate and timely; encouraging team participation in the way information is relayed to and from the departments.
  • Delivery – To deliver an excellent service to customers and shareholders of the Company, through financial management of the organisation. • To ensure the accurate and timely preparation of management accounts, the effective operation and development of management systems for all accounting functions, particularly those relating to general ledger, sales ledger, payroll, cash and banking, and stock control. • To be responsible for the preparation of appropriate financial reports for the Company, such as weekly Business Review meetings and for Board Meetings, as and when required. • To be fully conversant with new initiatives, new legislation and modern thinking in all matters relating to the financial management of the Company, and to advise the Management. • To plan and prepare financial management documents, including financial plans, budgets and forecasts. • To manage and oversee the preparation of all statutory returns • To maximise income from the Company. • To plan, implement and develop the Finance Team’s operating procedures. • To lead and initiate liaison with auditors.
