SUMMARY:
Are you a strategic technology leader with a strong background in ICT operations, cybersecurity, and enterprise systems? Our client is seeking an IT Director to lead its technology function, drive digital transformation, and ensure the delivery of secure, reliable, and cost-effective IT services aligned to organisational objectives.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

Develop and drive IT and cybersecurity strategy aligned to organisational objectives
Identify opportunities for system and process improvement
Prioritise projects based on business needs and resource capacity
Establish and enforce enterprise technology standards

IT Operations & Systems

Oversee IT infrastructure, systems, and service delivery
Manage relationships with external service providers
Ensure effective budget management and resource allocation
Implement and maintain IT policies, procedures, and governance frameworks
Conduct risk assessments and ensure mitigation strategies are in place

ICT Management

Ensure reliable and efficient ICT services across the organisation
Oversee infrastructure, networks, cloud environments, and endpoint platforms
Monitor performance, availability, and service delivery metrics
Ensure business continuity, backup, and disaster recovery processes are in place

Cybersecurity & Risk

Lead cybersecurity strategy and governance
Oversee incident management and risk registers
Ensure regular reporting on cyber risks and mitigation strategies
Align cybersecurity practices with broader IT operations

Project Management

Oversee delivery of IT and cybersecurity projects
Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, and risks
Ensure successful implementation and change management
Manage performance of external vendors and delivery partners

Compliance & Governance

Ensure compliance with data protection and information security regulations (POPIA)
Align IT processes with legal and regulatory requirements
Maintain alignment between data governance, cybersecurity, and IT operations

Contract & Vendor Management

Oversee all IT-related contracts and service agreements
Ensure contracts are current, cost-effective, and performance-driven
Manage supplier performance, risk, and compliance

People Leadership

Lead and develop direct reports across IT and cybersecurity functions
Foster collaboration and alignment across teams
Drive a high-performance, accountable team culture

Minimum Requirements:

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
Project management certification (e.g. Scrum) advantageous
IT governance or cybersecurity certifications advantageous

Experience

Minimum 8–10+ years’ experience in ICT operations and/or enterprise systems
At least 3 years in a senior IT leadership role
Proven experience managing cybersecurity at an organisational level
Strong track record in project and vendor management

Knowledge & Skills

Strong understanding of IT governance, risk, and compliance
Knowledge of modern ICT infrastructure and enterprise systems
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts
Strategic thinking, budgeting, and decision-making capability
Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
