Tax & Compliance Accountant

POSITION INFO:
This opportunity sits within a well-established and growing organisation that values accuracy, structure, and strong financial governance. The role offers direct exposure to senior leadership, including close collaboration with the CEO, making it ideal for someone who wants to grow beyond a standard accounting function. You’ll take ownership of the full accounting, tax, and compliance function; from managing the general ledger and financial reporting to ensuring all statutory requirements are met. The environment is hands-on, fast-paced, and suited to someone who enjoys working independently while still being part of a collaborative finance team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the general ledger, including journal entries and monthly reconciliations
• Prepare and review management accounts, financial schedules, and reports
• Handle VAT, PAYE, and corporate income tax submissions in line with legislation
• Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements including BBBEE, FICA, and Department of Labour submissions
• Conduct tax reconciliations and identify risks or discrepancies
• Support month-end and year-end financial close processes
• Assist with audit preparation and liaise with external auditors
• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field
• 3+ years’ experience in an accounting and taxation role
• Proven exposure to financial reporting, reconciliations, and tax compliance
• Experience working with audits and statutory requirements is advantageous
• Strong MS Excel skills
• Experience working on accounting systems
• Solid understanding of VAT, PAYE, and corporate income tax
• Good knowledge of IFRS/GAAP standards
