IT Support Technician

The IT Department is responsible for supporting and maintaining the company''''s IT systems and for providing efficient desktop support to all business users. The department is also responsible for resolving any IT related faults quickly and efficiently, including a broad range of queries from how to set up a email account to system diagnostics, plus enhancing and developing the IT provision extended within the business.

Also responsible for supporting and maintaining the Network and Desktop operating systems, and Microsoft Exchange environment plus general maintenance of all IT related hardware/software.

The position provides exposure to a broad range of IT related projects and activities.

Reports directly in the M.I.S Manager.

Duties / Responsibilities:

• Escalate IT issues to the IT Manager where necessary
• Responsible to managing backups
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues
• Undertake small to medium sized IT projects as instructed by IT Manager
• Provide desktop and server support
• Setting up and configuring new users, email accounts, access rights to network resources and hardware - laptops and desktops.
• ensuring security and upgrades are applied
• Fault-finding
• Reporting faults and maintaining logs on servers, desktops, laptops
• Ensuring patches and upgrades
• Creating purchase requisitions
• Ensuring all software purchased licensing is recorded and maintained
• Perform basic administrative support duties as required to meet specific operational objectives
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the IT Manager
• REquired to work extra hours to meet deadlines as and when required
• Ensure that a high level of customer service and support is provided to computer users
• Adhere to company protocol as laid out in the company policy and procedures

Qualifications:

• Matric
• A+
• N+
• S+ (advantageous)

Knowledge & Experience:

• 5 years experience in a similar role
• Client desktop & network support - essential
• Knowledge of Databases - SQL server and SQL express
• Exposure to roll out of IT projects
• Experience working with Google and Google Suites, Microsoft products including Windows, MS Office as suites
• Microsoft 365 (advantageous)
• VOIP
• Printer setup and maintenance

• Willing to work after hours and be on standby for weekends
• Excellent communication and writing skills
• Ability to work with all levels of business - from shop floor to executive
