  The Role:

  We are looking for an experienced Java Backend Developer (Software Developer) for a fixed term contract for Pretoria.

   

  Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Define and communicate technical and design requirements
  • Develop, test and maintain functional features
  • Build high quality reusable code
  • Be involved and participate in the overall application lifecycle
  • Troubleshoot and debug applications
  • Collaborate with team members
  • Stay up to date with best practices
  • Active participation in Agile ceremonies

   

  Qualifications and Experience needed for the role:

  • IT or similar degree or diploma
  • At least 8 years Java work experience

   

  Essential Skills Requirements:

  Specific technical and functional skills

  • Java itâ??s ecosystem (e.g JVM)    
  • Docker AWS ECS
  • Relational database design and data modelling
  • REST Services

  General technical skills

  • Unit testing and other automated testing methods (e.g. TDD or BDD)
  • Experience with continuous integration preferably Jenkins
  • Code versioning tools preferably Git

  Soft skills

  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Problem solving capabilities
  • Above-board work ethics
  • Taking pride in the delivery of quality on-time work
  • Punctuality
