Key Account Manager

SUMMARY:
A leading South African consumer products company is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Key Account Manager to join its Sales team.

POSITION INFO:
This role is responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of strategic national retail and distribution accounts, building long-term customer relationships, securing new business opportunities and driving sustainable sales growth. The successful candidate will be a confident relationship builder with strong commercial acumen, excellent negotiation skills and the ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment while representing the Company with professionalism and integrity. Duties & Responsibilities Develop and maintain strong relationships with national buyers, category managers and distribution partners. Conduct regular customer meetings, business reviews and strategic planning sessions. Identify opportunities to grow sales, expand product ranging and strengthen market presence. Secure new product listings across key retail accounts. Develop and execute account-specific growth plans to achieve sales and profitability targets. Identify and pursue new commercial opportunities within existing customer portfolios. Support business expansion into new retail channels and export markets. Work closely with distribution partners to implement customer strategies and improve market coverage. Monitor distributor performance against agreed objectives and action plans. Coordinate customer forecasts, purchase orders and product launches. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure on-time delivery and excellent customer service. Monitor stock availability and proactively manage supply challenges. Coordinate promotional campaigns and new product launches across assigned accounts. Ensure promotional activities and customer initiatives are executed effectively. Conduct regular store visits where required to monitor merchandising standards and identify growth opportunities. Analyse sales performance, customer trends and market activity. Prepare account reports, sales forecasts and business review presentations. Use commercial data and customer insights to identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Resolve customer queries and issues promptly while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. Desired Experience & Qualification Desired Experience & Qualification Grade 12 (Matric). Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Sales, Marketing or a related field will be advantageous. Minimum of 3-5 years'' experience in a Key Account Management role within the FMCG, consumer goods or retail industry. Proven experience managing national retail accounts, distributors or franchise groups. Demonstrated track record of achieving sales growth and managing strategic customer relationships. Strong commercial, negotiation and relationship management skills. Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency. Valid driver''s licence and willingness to travel for customer visits when required.
