JOB SUMMARY:
Six month fixed term contract position
To provide legal advice, co-ordinate all legal matters for the business across the various jurisdictions and manage legal risk for the business.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Key duties:
Agreements
  • Business Related Agreements (MOU, Channel Partner Agreements, Tender documents, MOA, SHA, SLA, S197)
  • Client Agreements (Sale Agreements, Marketing Agreements, Property Management Agreements, Lease Agreements)
  • Standard Internal Agreements (Lease agreements, SLA, MOU, MOA, Shareholders Agreements, Loan Agreements, HR related, etc.)
Ad hoc legal advice
Company Secretary and Board/ Committee Meetings
  • Company Meetings Board Meetings Audit and Risk/Finance and Risk Committee Meetings Human Resources Committee Meeting Social and Ethics Committee Meeting
Litigation
  • Consider summons / demands received and prepare initial view
  • Perusing relevant documentation, facts, etc.
  • Identifying risk.
  • Provide initial view on matter to business
  • Consult internally and instructions to attorneys
  • Regular communication / feedback with attorneys
  • Monitor performance, based on instructions provided and output delivered.
  • Look into complaints from business or attorneys regarding performance
  • Meetings as and when required
  • Managing costs on litigation.
  • Sign-off on attorney invoices
  • Monthly legal report

Requirements:
Education:
Minimum job requirements:
  • LLB degree and Articles of Clerkship completed with 3 years post admissions experience.
Skills Required:
  • Good analytical skills, knowledge of legal instruments, good interpretation skills, good communicator, company policies and procedures, communication, systematic, legal skills.
Knowledge Required:
  • General business acumen, contract management, contract drafting, negotiating, litigation and legal knowledge including the Companies Act, POPIA, FICA and general legislation.
Experience Required:
Business related agreements in the field of property management, facility management such as MOU and MOA agreements, tender documents, shareholders agreements, SLAs, Section 197 agreements. NDAs, Lease agreements, Loan Agreements, company secretarial work, Litigation and general legal research.
