POSITION INFO:

I am recruiting on behalf of an independent school group that seeks to appoint a full?time Legal Practitioner: Operations to assist the Head: Legal & Compliance in providing legal support to clients at an operational level, commencing in May 2026.

The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in labour law and in assisting with a general practice as it relates to schools’ requirements i.e. children’s rights, consumer-related matters (service provider contracts), insurance liabilities, administrative law, etc.

This is an in?office position based in Pretoria East, but will require travel on short notice from time to time.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Labour-related matters

Chair disciplinary hearings; attend to investigations; attend to internal appeals

General legal matters

Assist with advisory services to clients

Contract management

Manage the 3rd party contract (operational service providers to clients) portfolio, i.e. non-corporate contracts

External party engagement

Assist with engagements as required, e.g. SA Human Rights Commission, other Chapter 9 institutions, Consumer Tribunals, etc.

Other

Assist with addressing any general query raised by clients.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

LLB degree (South African or SAQA?recognised equivalent)
Training in mediation and arbitration is advantageous
Registered with the Legal Practice Council (LPC)
5 years in a similar role
