Legal Professional (Civil) Location: Cape Town Working model: Hybrid (after successful completion of probation) Salary: R240,000 per annum + benefits (Pension Fund, Medical Aid, EAP, Legal Benefit, Data Allowance) Reporting to: Legal Manager Department: Civil Work Environment: Open-plan, call centre-style office environment   About the Role An established legal services organisation is seeking a driven and motivated Legal Professional to join its Civil Department in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing professional legal advice to clients, handling a broad range of civil matters, conducting consultations, drafting legal documents, and assisting clients through mediation and negotiations to achieve amicable resolutions. This role operates within a legal insurance environment, not a traditional law firm. Employees do not attend court. Instead, the role functions within a call centre-based legal services environment, where communication with policyholders and attorneys takes place primarily via telephonic and email correspondence.    Minimum Requirements LLB Degree. Admission as an Attorney or Advocate will be advantageous. Ability to speak, read, and write at least two official South African languages, with Afrikaans being essential . Minimum of 2 years' post-articles experience within a legal environment. Exposure to a broad range of civil matters. Strong drafting and legal writing skills. Computer literate with strong administrative abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment. Strong attention to detail and sound legal knowledge. High levels of integrity, professionalism, and initiative. Key Responsibilities Conduct consultations with clients and obtain comprehensive instructions. Provide legal advice and opinions on civil, family, and estate-related matters. Draft legal correspondence, warning letters, settlement agreements, wills, and other legal documents. Manage client files and maintain accurate records and file notes. Provide regular updates and feedback to clients regarding the progress of their matters. Assess legal matters and provide recommendations based on the merits of each case. Conduct legal research and remain up to date with legislative developments. Facilitate negotiations and mediation processes to resolve disputes. Ensure compliance with internal legal and operational procedures. Collaborate effectively with support teams and other departments. Manage diary systems and ensure all matters are attended to within required timeframes.
