JOB SUMMARY:
Maintenance Assistant- Merrivale/ Howick

JOB DESCRIPTION:

An established business close to Merrivale/ Howick requires an experienced Maintenance Assistant to join their team.

The role will focus on ensuring the effective and efficient running of all machinery on the factory floor as well as the design and implementation of maintenance plans and upgrades.

Some of the duties will include:

Planning and conducting preventative maintenance.
Attending to breakdowns quickly and effectively for minimum down-time.
Assisting with managing the maintenance function within budget.
Assisting with production line improvements where required.
Assisting in the implementation and management of the Health & Safety system.
Helping to ensure that the machinery and maintenance process complies with FSSC22 000 certification.
Assisting the Factory Manager by constantly looking for process improvements, both mechanical and staffing.
Assisting with efficiency reporting, such as, but not limited to, hours of operation, breakdown delays, production throughput.

Key requirements:

Formal qualification as a Millwright, and/or tool & die maker, and/or Electrician.
10 years’ experience in similar industrial environment, preferably within FMCG with experience in maintaining packaging machinery and industrial food processing machinery.
Minimum of 5 years managing and physically implementing maintenance schedule and budgets.
A strong work ethic.
Experience with designing maintenance plans.
Ability to work within and enhance a team’s performance.
Computer literacy.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
