Management Accountant

SUMMARY:
A diversified mining and metals company is seeking an innovative and assertive Management Accountant to join their strong team. The incumbent will be responsible to undertake timely and accurate accounting function for the business unit and ensure all accounting controls, policies, practices, and procedures are enforced. POSITION INFO:

Minimum Requirements:

• Relevant Degree - B Com/ Cost Management / Management Accounting is essential
• CA (SA) or CIMA preferable
• 3 or more years’ related work experience
• Complex manufacturing experience
• Various Costing model understanding
• Previous experience in Management accountant role, working with numbers/ mathematical concepts
• Has a good working knowledge of a fully integrated financial accounting package –ERP system
• Has a good working knowledge of internal control systems
• Has a good exposure to tools and techniques for accounting, management accounting principles and reporting
• Demonstrates sound technical costing skills
• Has the ability to work to achieve deadlines, and adapt a flexible approach to meet the needs of the business

Performance Areas (Responsibilities):

The Management Accountant duties shall include, but not be limited to:

• Responsible for preparation of Management Accounts
• Activity based costing, Standard costing, cost control, analysis (margin / costs / productivity)
• Responsible for the provision of an analytical and advisory function to line management.
• Responsible for the implementation of financial analysis, control and reporting processes
• Prepares, examines, and analyses accounting records relating to manufacturing including inventory, to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
• Develops, maintains, and analyses budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs relating to Manufacturing
• Aids manufacturing relating to unresolved queries
• Prepares and processes Cost of Sales and revenue transactions (journals)
• Responsible for reconciliation of relevant accounts to the general ledger (manufacturing related including inventory)
• Ensures reconciliation of the fixed asset register to the general ledger
• Fixed assets management
• Inventory and warehouse management including analysis of inventory movement
• WIP monitoring and analysis
• Supervision of staff in the Finance department
• Ensures timely and complete month end and year end accounts closure process is performed in accordance with departmental policies and procedures and statutory requirements
• Accurate costing model to determine recommended list price
• Divisional income statements reporting for management accounting purposes
• Active business partnership role for guidance and support
