Manager Research and Development

SUMMARY:
Exciting career opportunity for a candidate with an Honours Degree with Research Methodology or a Master's Degree in Aviation/Engineering, and a minimum of 5 years' applicable Research and Statistical Analysis and Research Methodologies experience to join leading Public Entity.

POSITION INFO:
The successful candidate will draft and implement a research strategy for the Entity in respect of aviation related topics which shall include but not limited to safety operations, aviation security, aviation infrastructure, ICAO compliance as well as conduct cost-benefit analysis; concept development; feasibility; safety risk and policy analyses thereof.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Honors Degree with Research Methodology or Related Qualification
• Ideal Qualification:
  Master’s degree or higher in Aviation/ Engineering or any tertiary qualification deemed to be equivalent by the SA Qualifications Standards Authority.

• 5-7 years Applicable Research and Statistical Analysis Experience
• 5-7 years Experience in Research Methodologies

• Conduct needs analysis and identify areas of research.
• Draft proposals, design questionnaires, discussion guides, compile presentations with minimal input from seniors.
• Manage research projects by collecting and analysing information, applying appropriate research methodologies; making sound research recommendations and communicating the findings clearly.
• Analyse the business and international trends on civil aviation topics and prepare thorough and well-organized reports.
• Ensure that the Entity contributes to the national programme of development, by performing relevant knowledge generating research and transferring aviation skills and innovation that positions the Entity as a civil aviation hub of information and knowledge.

• Draft and implement a research strategy for the Entity.
• Maintain the repository of research topics and facilitate dissemination of research result.
• Manage numbering and archiving system of the researched topics.
• Record and monitor research project plans.
• Implement and maintain a research library.

• Ensure the attraction of R&D funding through the preparation of proposals, networking and lobbying with appropriate persons/institutions in order to generate appropriate funds to pursue the strategic objectives of the Entity.
• Develop and or contribute to the development of research funding proposals.

• Publish research results.
• Present research programs at professional meetings and conferences.
• Produce Entity research reports or newsletters, popular articles, public lectures and information leaflets.
• Deliver papers at conferences as a conference speaker (may be local conferences but includes international delegates)
• Contribute to the wider dissemination of industry knowledge

• Acquire relevant stakeholder background knowledge.
• Manage relationships with industry stakeholders.
• Liaise with the stakeholders on all aspects of research from briefings to presentations.
