Our client is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineering Director to lead the Engineering, Maintenance, and Toolroom functions within a highly technical manufacturing environment.
This is an engineering-first leadership role—not a production, operations, project engineering, or maintenance-only position.
The successful candidate will combine strong engineering leadership with hands-on manufacturing experience and a solid understanding of how engineering systems, manufacturing processes, asset reliability, tooling, and production support integrate on the factory floor.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

Lead the Engineering, Maintenance, and Toolroom functions
Drive manufacturing engineering excellence across machining, fabrication, and assembly operations
Ensure robust engineering governance, BOMs, routings, manufacturing systems, and technical standards
Drive asset reliability, maintenance strategies, and equipment performance
Lead CAPEX projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and process optimisation
Develop and mentor engineering managers and technical teams
Support a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and operational performance

Requirements

BEng or BTech Mechanical Engineering (or related)
10–15 years' manufacturing experience
Minimum 5 years in a senior engineering leadership role
Experience leading engineering, maintenance, and technical teams
Strong exposure to manufacturing engineering, engineering systems, reliability, and production support
Experience within machining, toolroom, fabrication, assembly, precision engineering, automotive, defence, industrial equipment, or similar discrete manufacturing environments

Advantageous

GCC
SAP experience
Exposure to globally competitive manufacturing environments

This Role Is Not Suited To

Operations or Plant Managers without strong engineering depth
Maintenance-only leaders
FMCG/process manufacturing professionals
Project or Design Engineering specialists
Technical specialists without leadership scale
