MINING LEAD ENGINEER

The Opportunity
This is a unique opportunity for a highly accomplished mining professional to build and lead Naidu Consulting's Mining Division from the ground up.
The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, develop business opportunities, establish technical capabilities, and grow a high-performing team to deliver mining engineering services across Africa.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the establishment and growth of Naidu Consulting's Mining Division.
• Develop and implement the division's strategic business plan and growth objectives.
• Identify, pursue, and secure new mining sector opportunities and partnerships.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with mining clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.
• Provide technical leadership on mining projects, including mine planning, infrastructure development, and operational improvement initiatives.
• Recruit, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary mining engineering team.
• Ensure project delivery excellence, quality assurance, and compliance with industry standards.
• Oversee budgets, resource allocation, risk management, and profitability of the division.
• Represent Naidu Consulting at industry forums, conferences, and client engagements.

• Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering (Master's Degree advantageous)
• Professional registration with ECSA or equivalent professional body.
• Minimum 10+ years of proven experience in the mining sector, with substantial experience in mine design, project management, and operational leadership.
• Demonstrated experience in business development and client relationship management within the mining industry.
• Strong understanding of mining regulations, safety standards, and environmental compliance requirements.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex mining projects.
• Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

• Experience establishing or growing a mining consulting practice or business unit.
• Exposure to open-pit, underground, and mineral processing operations.
• Experience working across Southern Africa and broader African mining markets.
• Track record of securing and delivering major mining infrastructure projects.
