PRICING SPECIALIST - JHB

SUMMARY:
Pricing strategy implementation and integrity of pricing data while contributing to pricing strategy formulation through pricing analysis and insight, ensuring we have a competitive pricing position in the South African market.

POSITION INFO:

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS/PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• To implement pricing strategies across product categories and brands
• Complete pricing projects to agreed deadlines
• Accuracy and completeness of data updates
• Undertake market pricing projects especially targeting “known value articles” and maintain

competitor product matching lists

• Monitor competitor pricing, establish competitor price indexes, and undertake re-pricing activity to maximise competitiveness and customer price perception
• Create opportunities to improve price perception through collaboration with the Marketing, Sales
• and Customer Experience functions
• Undertake analysis and modeling of the impact of price changes
• Maintain up to date manufacturer list prices
• Identify and make recommendations on products that can be procured locally based on strategic
• pricing benefits
• Identify, control, and manage local product compliance and legislation with Group support
• Provide answers to ad-hoc pricing queries
• Support the submission of data requested by industry bodies such as NRCS, AREI, or similar
• Uphold ethical standards and Group policy related to the pricing and competitive behavior
• Maintain Article Master Data in collaboration with global master/central data team
• Provide inputs on global pricing developments and tools relevant for ZA market
• Manage article integrity and sales and quote files daily

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree level education is required ideally in business, economics, cost accounting, or mathematics
• Lean six sigma yellow belt or above considered an advantage             
• Project management qualifications considered an advantage
• At least 2-3 years’ experience with responsibility for large complex database integrity
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Experience using SAP R3, SAP Business Warehouse / Analysis for Excel is preferred with a proven aptitude for using database and statistical analysis software
• Experience working with SQL databases – advantageous
• Experience in an analytical role ideally with experience of pricing large complex databases in an e-commerce business - advantageous
• Good numerical, analytical, and research skills.
• Able to prioritise multiple demands
• Good communication skills across organisational levels & good presentation skills
• Good understanding of Competition Law and its relevance to pricing.
• Ability to work independently but collaborate well
• Understanding of the pricing process and how it fits within the pricing strategy
• Attention to detail
