SUMMARY:
Are you a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Manager with a strong background in SAGE300 and a passion for efficient, compliant payroll operations?

POSITION INFO:
My client is looking for a proactive and hands-on professional to take full responsibility for the payroll function of a diverse and growing group of companies.

As the Payroll Manager, you will oversee the end-to-end payroll process for approximately 500 employees across thirteen companies. You’ll work closely with the Financial Director to ensure accurate and timeous payroll processing, statutory compliance, and the implementation of best practices in payroll control and reporting.

This role is based in West Lake, Cape Town, Southern Suburbs

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and process monthly payroll for salaries, hourly paid, and commission-based employees.
Ensure all payroll changes (new hires, terminations, commissions, etc.) are captured accurately and processed on time.
Reconcile payroll data and produce costing and variance reports in Excel.
Develop, implement, and maintain payroll controls, policies, and procedures.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and system usage.
Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements (PAYE, UIF, Workmen’s Compensation).
Handle payroll administration and employee queries.
Collaborate with SAGE consultants to resolve technical and system-related issues.
Work closely with the Financial Director on salary payments, bank and general ledger reconciliations.
Liaise with service providers including medical aid and group life cover.
Support external audits by providing accurate payroll-related documentation and responses.

Requirements:

A Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a relevant field (Non-Negotiable)
A minimum of 3 years’ experience using SAGE300 (Non-Negotiable)
Proven experience managing payrolls for 500+ employees (Non-Negotiable)
Strong Excel skills including the use of formulas
In-depth knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance requirements
Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a proactive mindset
