Lead from the Front: Principal Accountants!

POSITION INFO:
Our client, operating within the public sector space, is looking for a Principal Accountant to step into a senior, high-impact role based in Pretoria.

This isn’t a role for someone who simply prepares reports. This is for a technically sharp CA(SA) who understands the rhythm of GRAP, PFMA and municipal finance environments - and can confidently guide projects, stakeholders, and compliance frameworks without losing momentum.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead complex public sector accounting projects within government and municipal environments
Ensure compliance with GRAP, PFMA, and related legislative frameworks
Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements and statutory reporting
Provide technical accounting guidance to project teams and clients
Strengthen internal controls and governance processes
Support audit processes and stakeholder engagements
Travel as required to client sites

Job Experience and Skills Required:

CA(SA) – essential
10+ years’ accounting experience with a strong public sector background
Extensive exposure to GRAP, PFMA, municipal finance, and government structures
Registered with a professional accounting body
Comfortable in a consulting or project-driven environment
Willingness to travel
