SUMMARY:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Engineer to take technical leadership on complex petrochemical projects. This role is responsible for leading process design activities, ensuring process safety compliance, and driving technical excellence across all project phases.
The successful candidate will act as the lead process engineer, providing hands-on expertise in simulations, risk studies, and process safety reviews, while chairing HAZOP, risk assessment, and potential deviation analysis sessions.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

Lead process engineering activities on petrochemical projects from concept through detailed design
Take ownership of process safety deliverables, including HAZOP, risk assessments, and PDA studies
Chair and facilitate HAZOP, risk, and process safety review workshops
Develop and review process designs, calculations, and technical documentation
Perform petrochemical process simulations using ChemCad or similar software
Provide technical guidance and mentorship within multidisciplinary project teams

Skills & Experience

Approximately 10 years’ experience working on petrochemical projects
Strong hands-on expertise in process safety controls and instrumentation design
Proven experience conducting and leading HAZOP studies, risk assessments, and deviation analyses
Advanced process design capability for petrochemical plants and systems
Proficient in process simulation tools such as ChemCad or equivalent software
Strong leadership, communication, and technical decision-making skills

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering
Professionally registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (PrEng)
Demonstrated experience leading process engineering functions on petrochemical projects

Only South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.
