Production Manager

SUMMARY:
A high performance, dynamic, driven and growing company operating in the manufacturing in South African as well as internationally is looking for a high potential Production Manager. This person must be able to thrive within a fast-paced and high-pressure environment and should be open to change, driven by a continuous improvement culture. We are ISO 90001 and 22716 certified and fall under an international group of manufacturing facilities thus we uphold a very high standard of manufacturing excellence and performance. The successful candidate would need to have the necessary skills and experience to ensure these standards are maintained, while at the same time driving the businesses continuous improvement strategy.

POSITION INFO:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. People management (Production Shift Managers, Supervisors and administrators)
2. Manage production performance to ensure that manufacturing KPI targets are met and continuously improved (SHEQ, OEE, Kaizen, Productivity/Man Hours, Production Plans, Wastage, Rework, Electricity and Water consumption)
3. Monitor and control production costs (wages, temporary workers, overtime, consumables, repairs & maintenance, wastage)
4. Accountable for presenting on production performance to senior management weekly/monthly.
5. Assist the company on its journey to manufacturing excellence within a global manufacturing group environment.
6. Drive continuous improvement and efficiency projects
7. Creation and management of training, upskilling and succession plans (as all production levels)
8. Manage equipment/assets (performance, setup, condition, housekeeping)
9. Ensure manufacturing processes and procedures are adhered to, improved and maintained where necessary, within the current ISO 9001, 22716 and 14001 framework
10. Able to maintain and improve staff culture and build a strong morale and driven environment
11. Managing HR/IR related issues amongst the manufacturing team
12. lignment to and leadership of our strong customer focus (internal and external) and company culture and values are always essential.
13. Oversight of automatic and semi-automatic filling and packing equipment, as well as mixing and semi-automatic processing/manufacturing equipment and procedures, across a 3 shift 24 hour work structure.
14. Management of consumable stock ordering and stock management
15. Responsible for stock receipting and material issue accuracy and production wastage reporting

1. Relevant tertiary qualification (Operations/ Technical/ Management)
2. Experience with Syspro/RiteScan (advantageous) or similar ERP/ WMS system (critical)
3. +8 years relevant and proven work experience, preferably within the FMCG sector
4. +4 years’ experience in a management role.
5. Proven leadership and managerial skills, including HR related processes and procedures
6. Excellent communication skills
7. Excellent interpersonal skills. Able to engage effectively with people at all levels of the business.
8. Strong work ethic – must be able to show initiative
9. Attention to detail and strong numeracy skills
10. Strong Microsoft Excel skills advantageous
11. Presentation skills essential – must be able to report and present to top management
12. Ability to translate broad strategies into actions, plan tactically and execute effectively and efficiently to achieve desired results and targets
13. Proven history of sustainability improvement projects
14. Ability to nurture talent and build team alignement within the Company’s vision & values to drive a high performance team.
15. Proven experience with automated filling and packing lines as well as processing.
16. Detail oriented, with strong problem-solving and analytic ability.
17. Strong SHEQ experience and mindset
18. Proven technical skills, knowledge and experience advantageous
19. Stock management experience advantageous
20. Have a valid drivers license and own transport
21. This working hours are standard office hours
