SUMMARY:
A leader in its industry is currently seeking for an experienced Property Analyst to join their team, the main function of this role is To research and conduct thorough financial analysis of listed property stocks with a view to provide valuations of companies and decisions on whether companies are a buy or sell.

POSITION INFO:

The successful applicant duties include but is not limited to:

Listed Property Analysis

Analyse the financial statements of listed properties to understand revenue, operating costs, interest to be paid and tax implications to provide a forecast.
Rate the company using the financial statement information (i.e. cost of equity, bond yields, long term growth in earnings, etc.) to come up with the intrinsic or fair value of the property stock
Produce cost of property equity and determine sustainable growth rate of company.
Present the case for property investment at the Equity Research Meeting
Maintain ranking sheet of properties to rank opportunities in respect of internal rate of return.
Maintain rating sheet to ensure opportunities are up to date

Communication with Key Stakeholders

Keep abreast with information relating to property and update recommendations as and when information changes
Engage with management in the listed property space to gather information on how companies have performed, and provide recommendations on investment actions
Conduct site visits to engage with centre management on statistics and trends and carry out due diligence to document and compare property portfolios; update models to inform / reinforce assumptions on revenue growth
Liaise with company management to get an update on property portfolios (vacancies, renewals, expenses, etc) and property strategies
Update internal research platform on property investments
Provide feedback to inform daily morning meeting and equity research meeting on companies and key results

Minimum Requirements:

3 years investment management experience with at least two years covering the listed property sector in SA
Bachelors Degree in Property Studies or Accounting or Investment Management or equivalent. CFA and/or CA(SA) qualifications will be advantageous
Knowledge of financial market data e.g. Bloomberg, risk management systems, etc
Ability to read financial statements
Sound knowledge of property companies
Sound knowledge of property investment instruments
Knowledge of legislation
