SUMMARY:
Are you a Senior Accountant who enjoys working close to operations, thrives in a hands-on environment, and takes ownership of the full financial function? An established business in the manufacturing and engineering sector is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support and manage its core accounting function.

POSITION INFO:
Based in Gauteng, the business operates within the industrial and mining equipment space, supporting production, distribution, and aftermarket services across its customer base. The role works closely with operational and plant teams and requires a practical, detail-oriented approach to financial management, costing, and compliance.

This opportunity is well suited to a Senior Accountant who values operational exposure, enjoys partnering with the business, and wants to contribute meaningfully to day-to-day financial oversight and decision-making.

Duties

Perform full-function financial accounting, including ABC costing (materials and production)
Maintain general ledger integrity, including journals, adjustments, and trial balance accuracy
Oversee DR & CR postings, controls, and balance sheet reconciliations
Prepare and review financial reports in accordance with IFRS / GAAP
Manage month-end and year-end close processes
Support cash flow management and working capital optimisation
Oversee fixed assets, CAPEX, and depreciation accounting
Ensure compliance with tax and statutory requirements (VAT, PAYE, etc.)
Coordinate and support internal and external audits
Review and supervise junior staff’s work, ensuring accuracy and compliance
Maintain and utilise advanced Excel and ERP systems (SAP highly preferred)
Partner with operations to support inventory control, cost analysis, and margin tracking
Identify and implement process improvements and strengthened financial controls

Skills & Experience:

BCom in Accounting or related field (Essential)
Completed SAICA / SAIPA articles (Essential)
Minimum 5 years’ relevant accounting experience
Proven experience in a manufacturing / engineering environment (Highly advantageous)
