Senior Financial Manager – Role Profile

A position as a Senior Financial Manager has become available at a Mining company in Bryanston.

It is a junior mining company where the position is of high pressure, demanding and requires a lot of independence.

Start date: Immediate

Qualification and experience: Matric, Qualified CA, BCom Qualification, Minimum of 8 years’ work experience, post articles, in similar role

1. Roles and Responsibilites

Provide financial and analytical support;
Implementation of controls for stock, operations purchases, asset maintenance, creditors, debtors, bank and cash; and monitoring of all implementations across the Group;
Ensure all controls are managed and monitored appropriately and discrepancies are reported and resolved appropriately;
Preparation of financial records;
Preparation of all taxation submissions - No penalties incurred or non-compliance notices from SARS;
Maintain treasury function and cashflows;
Review all tax returns and co-ordination with tax consultant on timeous submission of income tax returns; and Review VAT and PAYE are processed correctly on a monthly basis;
Responsible for financial, tax and internal control matters including all internal, external, government and audits;
Preparation of internal and external rporting;
SENS announcements are prepared timeously and accurately;
Ensure that an effective control environment exists through compliance with all Group and local control frameworks, policies, and procedures as relevant;
Liaison with the auditors and answering any queries that might arise as a consequence of the year end and interim reviews;
Prepare or oversee preparation of interim and annual corporate tax returns and ensure that they are filed in accordance with reporting requirements and deadlines;
Management of th finance team; and
Any ad-hoc duties which are assigned.

2. Competencies

Maintain a current knowledge of corporate accounting policies, financial reporting requirements, and provide related direction and support to management and staff;
Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
Effective verbal, written and listening communications skills;
Time management skills; and
Computer skills including the ability to operate computerised accounting, spreadsheet and word-processing programs at a highly proficient level.
