Senior Salesforce Developer

Role Purpose:

The role of the Senior Developer has full accountability for custom development, enhancing and
maintaining application software, websites and application databases as well as driving efficiency
throughout complex digital projects. The role impacts all phases of the development lifecycle and
ensures the timeous delivery of well-organised, optimal and documented source code to deliver
high-performing, scalable, enterprise-grade applications.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

Technical Leadership:

o Meet with business stakeholders to determine business, functional and technical requirements
and participate in application design, configuration, testing and deployment
o Perform configuration and customisation of the Salesforce.com platform
o Participate in efforts to develop and execute testing, training and documentation
o Drive tangible deliverables (requirements specifications, design deliverables, status reports,
project plans)
o Utilise best practices to perform operational support, enhancements, bug fixes as needed to the
Salesforce.com platform
o Proactively engage on continuous improvement efforts for application design, support, and
practice development efforts.
o Provide technical assistance and end user troubleshooting for bug fixes, enhancements, and
“how-to” assistance.
o Performs regular reviews on implementation done by less experienced developers and offer
feedback and suggestions for those codes
o Communicate development progress to senior management
o Independently communicate with both client technical teams and business owners as needed
during the design and implementation
o Provide input into project & program teams (when required) to plan & manage the development
lifecycle e.g. releases, risk management, testing, integration etc.
o Conduct reviews, performance monitoring & ongoing optimization and maintenance on
applications
Thought Leadership:

o Stay ahead of the curve on emerging technologies and development practices and continuously
evolve existing knowledge & skill in preparation for cross domain and other experiences e.g.
Secure Side, Testing, Infrastructure solutions etc.

People Management:

o Conducts regular 1-0-1’s, annual performance reviews and IDP discussions

o Mentors junior and mid-level developers of the team, and can designate tasks to team members
in a balanced and effective manner
Risk & Governance
o Identify technical risks and mitigate these (pre, during & post release)
o Update / Design all application documentation aligned to the organisation technical standards
and risk / governance frameworks
o Participate in incident management & DR activity – applying critical thinking, problem solving &
technical expertise to get to the root cause of major incidents

Qualifications, Skills, Experience:

o BSc Computer Science, Engineering or BSc/BComm Information Systems or related field
o Minimum 4+ years of experience working on Salesforce platforms (or related experience)
o Salesforce Platform Developer 1 and 2 (essential)
o Salesforce Certified Administrator (essential)
o Direct experience working on CRM projects
o Core concepts to be confident on - LWC, Integration (REST and SOAP), APEX frameworks
(Trigger framework, FFLIB framework)
o Relevant Consultant certifications (Sales/Service/Community) (essential)
o One or two Architect certifications (Data/integration/Deployment/System) (advantageous)
o Working knowledge and experience with complex business systems integration as well as
object-oriented design patterns and development
o Experience with Agile development methodologies
o Proven people management skills and leadership ability
o Disciplined, self-motivated work ethic with proven ability to work on multiple projects with varying
deadlines
o Takes ownership and delivers timeously
o Excellent consulting and communication skills - verbal and written
o Excellent problem-solving skills and critical thinking ability to get to the root cause of major
incidents and give optimal solutions
