SUMMARY:
Are you a driven actuarial professional with a strong foundation in pricing and a desire to grow your career in Cape Town? A leading and wellâestablished shortâterm insurance provider is expanding its Pricing and Modelling team and is looking for a technically strong Actuarial Analyst to join their innovative environment.

POSITION INFO:

This role offers an exciting blend of traditional actuarial pricing and modern analytics, including exposure to machine learning techniques, within a business that values collaboration, forwardâthinking solutions, and continuous professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform pricingâfocused actuarial modelling within a shortâterm insurance framework
Collect, clean, and structure large datasets using SQL and Python
Apply advanced analytical techniques such as GLMs, decision trees, clustering, and other machine learning methods
Build, test, and maintain predictive pricing models with guidance from senior team members
Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights through reports, dashboards, and presentations
Support underwriting strategy, portfolio optimisation, and pricing reviews
Identify and implement opportunities for automation and process improvement
Develop and maintain management dashboards using Power BI
Contribute to a strong pricing and riskâaware culture across the business

Job Experience and Skills Required:

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or a related quantitative discipline
- Completion or near completion of A100 and A200 actuarial exams
- Strong academic track record with a clear focus on pricing
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years’ actuarial experience within the shortâterm insurance industry
- Demonstrated exposure to pricing and actuarial modelling
Skills:
- Strong mathematical, statistical, and analytical capability
- Proficiency in Python (modelling and automation) and SQL (data extraction and management)
- Experience with Power BI or similar data visualisation tools
- Knowledge of actuarial modelling and machine learning methodologies
- High attention to detail and a structured, solutionâdriven approach
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- Innovative mindset with a natural curiosity for data and problemâsolving
- Excellent communication skills across both technical and business audiences
- Solid understanding of shortâterm insurance products and risk concepts
