Site Agent CAPE TOWN and JOHANNESBURG

We are looking for a hands-on and experienced Site Agent to manage the day-to-day operations of commercial construction sites. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all on-site activities, ensuring that work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with project specifications, quality standards, and deadlines.

This role requires strong leadership, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage subcontractors, materials, and site teams effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all on-site construction activities for commercial building projects

• Coordinate subcontractors, site staff, and material deliveries

• Ensure construction work complies with plans, specifications, and health & safety regulations

• Monitor progress against project programme and report delays or risks

• Conduct site inductions and enforce safety protocols

• Keep daily site records, including site diaries, labour, and material usage

• Attend site meetings and liaise with engineers, quantity surveyors, and management

• Ensure proper execution of work according to quality standards

• Manage site logistics and resources to meet project timelines

• Resolve on-site issues or escalate when necessary

Minimum Requirements

• 5+ years’ experience as a Site Agent or Foreman in commercial construction

• Proven experience in managing building sites (offices, retail, warehouses, etc.)

• Relevant qualification in Building, Construction Management, or Civil Works

• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and health & safety regulations

• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications

• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills

• Computer literacy for reporting and document management

• Valid driver’s license and own transport

Preferred / Advantageous

• Experience with both new builds and renovation/alteration projects

• Familiarity with project management tools or scheduling software (e.g. MS Project)

• SACPCMP or NHBRC registration is a plus
