JOB SUMMARY:

One of South Africa's Banking Giants is looking for a Specialist within Credit Reporting to provide subject matter expertise relating to Credit Risk reporting, disclosure and management.


JOB DESCRIPTION:

Purpose Statement:
  • To provide subject matter expertise relating to Credit Risk reporting, disclosure and management, contributing towards the effective Credit Reporting Function
  • To compile information on all credit activities across the bank and presenting findings, trends and insights to stakeholders at Board, Executive and non-Director forums – in order to inform decision making and add value to the internal credit governance process.

Key Tasks & Accountabilities:
Credit Risk Reporting
  • Engage with relevant stakeholders to gather inputs for reporting purposes, and ensure quality supply of source information by clarifying irregularities in data prior to reporting.
  • Analyse credit data to gain understanding of client behaviour and to identify potential risks, and package conclusions and insights into quality reports.
  • Actively participate in the preparing of presentations for senior and executive meetings (Credit Committee, Risk Committee, Board Risk & Capital Management Committee and the Board) by ensuring:
    • The report structure, content and length are appropriate for the objectives of each meeting.
    • Executive reports are relevant and concise.
    • Reports are anchored and easily reconciled to key financial reports.
    • Quality assurance and checking of reports and presentations.
    • Reports are submitted in line with reporting deadlines.
  • Maintain on-going relations with key members of the credit reporting cycle in order to maintain a half year-end and year-end financial reporting discipline (i.e. external year-end annual reporting; external year-end audit engagement).
  • Read through external media content and best practise standards continuously to feed relevant information through to necessary reporting forums and packs.
  • Provide subject matter insights to enhance the efficiencies of the reporting process through networking, applying business intelligence and market research.
  • Liaise with internal financial stakeholders to gather input into the annual credit budget plan and demonstrate this understanding in disclosure cost variances.
Credit Risk Disclosure
  • Provide subject matter input and observations on credit risk and related credit matters, to enable Head: Credit Reporting to respond to press statements and enquiries from the market.
  • Work with the Head: Credit Reporting to draft communications and appropriate responses to enquiries from funder or Investor’s request / via Treasurer or CFO.
  • Participate in providing credit detail for input to Annual financial statement and half year reports.
  • Liaise continuously with various credit heads:
    • To gain understanding of their core credit KPIs and KRIs.
    • Convert these metrics into quality reportable measures.
  • Develop understanding around Basel III & IFRS9; ensure there is a thread through to external communications from a credit risk and financial reporting perspective.
Qualification:
Honours Degree in Commerce / Financial Accounting or ideally a CA(SA) designation

Knowledge and experience:
Minimum Knowledge:
  • The retail credit industry
  • Credit Risk Management
  • Advanced MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • National Credit Act
Experience:
  • 2 -3 years’ experience, post qualification in a financial reporting environment
Ideal Knowledge:
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS 9, Consolidations & Reporting (Year-End, Bi-Annually)
  • Basel III
  • Bank’s Credit Policy (including collections and recoveries policies)
  • Central Collections and Recoveries (external debt collection and debt review) environmet
Experience:
  • 3+ years’ experience at interacting & reporting within the Credit Risk environment
