Supply Chain Manager - must have locomotive experience

SUMMARY:
Client based in Pretoria is looking for a candidate with at least five years experience in a locomotive environment

POSITION INFO:

Duties:

COMMERCIAL

• Receive customer requests for the supply of parts and/or services

• Provide detailed quotes to customers with key terms and conditions

• Preparation of tender documents for submission of bids

• Ensure ongoing communication with customers

PROCUREMENT

• Assist in the selection of appropriate suppliers and contractors who are compliant in terms of BEE, quality standards, availability and timeous delivery

• Drive negotiation of contract terms on a range of central contracts and monitor performance against these contracts

• Understand the procurement needs of both internal and external customers for the repair and maintenance of locomotives

• Ensure timeous ordering and delivery of the necessary supplies to meet customer needs

• Monitor spend per vendor and drive trade discount negotiations/volume rebates

WAREHOUSING

• Ensure all warehouse and stock management controls are adhered to

• Ensure receiving and dispatching processes are adhered

• Perform quarterly stock counts.

LOGISTICS

• Ensure the most cost effective and efficient mode of transport is used for each consignment.

• Understand customer delivery requirements and ensure delivery timelines are adhered to

• Prepare shipping and customs clearing documentation

• Send POD to stakeholders.

GENERAL

• Provide guidance and training to a team of procurement staff

• Attended management operational committee meetings and provide strategic guidance on the procurement and maintenance requirements of locomotives

Requirements:

• Formal Qualification in Supply Chain Management
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Locomotive environment.
• Specializing in GE/GM Locomotives
• Computer Literate
• Proven experience in Supply Chain; experience as a Supply Chain Manager or in other stock/warehousing positions will be considered a plus;
• Good computer skills (MS Office, SAP knowledge would be advantageous)
• Proficiency in English
• Well-organized and responsible with an aptitude in problem-solving
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• A team player with high level of dedication
• Supply chain qualification; certification in sales or marketing will be an asset
• Sound knowledge of GE/GM Locomotives
• Driver’s License (Code EB)
• Physically fit to work in an Operational Environment (Warehouse and Locomotive Workshop)
