JOB SUMMARY:
To perform the tax reporting function, to provide specialist tax calculations and to support the Senior Financial Manager on all tax calculations for Company Operations SA

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Requirements:

B. Com qualification
Tax qualification (H Dip Tax Law or similar) or at an advanced stage of study thereto
Minimum 3 years’ tax specific post-qualification experience
1 – 2 years’ additional experience post articles to practically apply knowledge and qualification
Experience in interacting at senior management
In-depth knowledge of applying tax legislation
Well-developed understanding of accounting principles
Basic commercial awarenes
Specialist, in-depth understanding of tax principles and tax calculations
Good understanding of tax at a consolidation level
Deep understanding of business principles and practices

Duties:

Prepare tax calculations with supporting schedules on a monthly basis including deferred tax and upload the tax packs into Hyperion Financial Management.
Calculate effective tax rate reconciliation on a monthly basis.
Prepare annual tax computations for SA and regional countries for year end and tax return purposes, including the IT14 supplementary declarations when issued. Liaise with auditors on tax related matters and ensure review queries are cleared timeously.
Prepare local and regional provisional tax calculations, obtain sign-off from Senior tax manager, submit provisional tax returns and assist with making the provisional tax payments via e-filing.
Liaising with SARS and other tax authorities on various tax matters, including objections and appeals, tax clearance certificates and system issues.
Develop and manage relationships with the revenue authorities.
Prepare dividend tax returns, obtain sign off from Senior tax manager and submit returns.
Answering tax queries received from within the business
Perform tax (income, VAT and PAYE) reviews and report back to Line Manager and business on findings.
Assist in coordinating the monthly tax meetings
Researching various tax matters and support Senior Tax Manager in drafting tax opinions on various transactions
