Transport Manager

POSITION INFO:
We are seeking an experienced Transport Manager to lead and oversee transport operations within a fast-paced distribution environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing transport planning, fleet performance, delivery schedules, driver management, compliance, budgeting, and operational efficiency while ensuring exceptional service delivery and cost control. Key Responsibilities Manage daily transport operations, delivery schedules, and route optimization. Lead and develop transport teams, including drivers and support staff. Monitor transport budgets, costs, fuel usage, and operational expenditure. Ensure compliance with transport, health & safety, and company standards. Oversee vehicle and equipment maintenance programs. Manage transport reporting, KPI tracking, and performance analysis. Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and mitigate operational risks. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and service delivery. Minimum Requirements Grade 12 with Higher Grade Mathematics. Tertiary qualification in Transport, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field. 5-7 years' management experience within transport, warehousing, distribution, FMCG, or QSR environments. Proven experience in people management, shift management, health & safety, and operational planning. Strong understanding of transport operations, fleet management, and distribution processes. Skills & Competencies Strong leadership and team management abilities. Advanced planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Financial acumen with experience managing budgets and costs. Results-driven with strong attention to detail. Proficient in MS Office, advanced Excel, and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). Key Performance Areas Delivery reliability and on-time dispatch performance. Budget management and cost control. Driver and fleet performance management. Health & Safety compliance. Operational efficiency and customer service excellence.
